Harvey John are working with a growing client in the legal sector who are seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join their newly established finance team in Mid-Sussex.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a 'No 2' for the Finance Manager in an innovative, but well established firm, with good prospects for further progress.

This role would suit an experienced legal cashier looking to make that next step within a fresh environment. You'll be seeking a greater degree of responsibility and autonomy where you can really make your mark in an expanding firm.

Role and responsibilities

• Daily Bank Reconciliations
• Petty Cash and Banking
• Drawing Cheques
• Processing of daily transactions
• Taking credit/debit card payments
• Inputting Chaps and Bacs payments onto the Banking system
• Preparing paperwork for completions and liaising with the fee earners
• Agreeing Completion statements
• Purchase Ledger – inputting the office expenditure onto the system
• Monitoring time recording and fee-earner performance
• Assisting with Credit control if needed
• Working closely with Billing and Admin team
• Assisting Fee Earners with small balance queries
• Ad-hoc assistance with the Finance Manager
• Clearing down old balances and returning funds to clients.

Your background and experience

• Minimum of 2-3 years experience of all aspects of legal cashiering / legal accounts
• Strong knowledge of Solicitor's Accounts Rules
• Accuracy and attention to detail is vital
• Committed and responsible approach
• Confident to work individually within a small team
• Willingness to learn and looking to develop your career
