The post holder will use their creativity and flexibility to engage with these communities in new and innovative ways around the issues of DVA - for example introducing activity sessions that appeal to particular groups to enhance engagement and opportunity for discussion.

As well as building capacity in the community to talk about and identify DVA; the Community worker will ensure the project stream is fully accessible to all members of the BME communities by ensuring all compounding issues such as language barriers and culture needs are addressed. The Community Worker will also have knowledge of, address and raise awareness around culturally specific issues with the communities such as Honour-based violence, forced marriage and Female Genital Mutilation.

The Community Worker will carry out casework in the community; providing risk assessment, safety planning and on-going casework to women who have experience DVA from BME communities. They will work with community groups to co-produce and adapt the casework model to suit the needs of the BME communities. They will also harness the voice of the BME service user and build capacity in BME community groups to identify Community Connectors and subsequent sessional workers.
