Applications are invited for the role of University Chaplain, reporting to the Vice-Chancellor. This is an exciting opportunity for a new post holder to play a pivotal role in leading and developing a broad and challenging portfolio of responsibilities, providing an inclusive focus of support for staff and students across the whole University community. The post holder will work across both University campuses at Chichester and Bognor Regis.
The Chaplain will ensure the smooth leadership and management of the Chapel, based at Bishop Otter Campus, leading a stimulating, attractive, high quality programme of religious services, ceremonies and events. This will require the Chaplain to promote fresh and innovative ways to provide for staff and students of various faiths and those of no faith commitment, requiring the post holder to develop effective relationships with multi-faith contacts within and outside the University.
An Ordained minister (or of equivalent standing), applicants will bring to this role strong communication skills and substantial pastoral experience, requiring an approachable, consultative and warm manner. The post holder will work effectively alongside Student Support and Wellbeing to provide, or arrange for, back-up assistance when necessary, requiring the Chaplain to be on-call when required.
