About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a Clerk who is reliable, organised and flexible. They must pride themselves on attention to detail, take accurate minutes and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will provide a full administrative service to the board of trustees and its committees to enable proceedings to be conducted effectively and in accordance with legal requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

- To advise the board of trustees on governance, procedural, and constitutional matters.

- Provide administrative support to the board of trustees and other committees.

- Ensure the board of trustees is correctly constituted.

- Effectively manage information in accordance with legal requirements.

Training will be provided for the right candidate to be carried out in the hours set out above.

We are a rural, mixed 11-18 comprehensive converter academy with nearly 1300 students including 250 in the Sixth Form. We are situated in Crowborough on the edge of the Ashdown Forest and in close proximity to Tunbridge Wells and the South Coast. We have been judged good with outstanding features in 2 successive Ofsted observations, and are well on the way to achieving our goal of outstanding.

The post is subject to DBS enhanced clearance, health checks and references. Single Status Grade 7 is currently £20,249 to £21,463, full time equivalent. As this role is paid based on an average of 5 hours per week, term time only the actual salary would be £2,372.20 to £2,554.59. Additional hours will be paid on an hourly rate equivalent to this pay scale. Hours will vary dependent on meeting cycle. It is expected you will probably work an average of 5 hours a week predominantly during term time although a degree of flexibility will be necessary.
