Harvey John is working exclusively with an award winning creative business based in Brighton on finding an experienced Finance Manager to lead their finance function. This privately owned SME business is experiencing good year on year growth, expanding its client base, and has received industry recognition for the quality of its work. As part of the senior management team, reporting to the Managing Director and Board, this individual will oversee all finance duties using Xero. They will play an integral part in ensuring the business achieves its growth plans in line with strategy

Duties to include:

• Ensuring financial targets are met.
• Overseeing day to day tasks of the finance team, including the maintenance of Xero accounting package, monthly payroll, VAT returns and cash flow monitoring.
• Month end management accounts reporting and reporting at board meetings.
• Cost centre accounting within Xero to enable project profitability reported on a monthly basis.
• Yearly budget preparation with quarterly reforecasting.
• Working with other department heads to monitor budgetary control.
• Dealing with foreign currency both from a VAT and cash treasury perspective.
• Co-ordination of the finance team to ensure all compliance work completed timely post year end.
• Ad hoc projects such as yearly R&D tax claims and grant applications.
• Liaison with company accountants as necessary.
• Regular engagement with company bankers and lawyers as required.
• Continual assessment of suppliers and sourcing alternatives as needed.
• Ensuring adequate business insurances in place and constantly reviewed.
• Maintaining fit for purpose terms and conditions for contracts with customers and suppliers.
• Ad hoc requests of a finance nature from the CEO and non-exec Finance Director.
• Keeping employees motivated and organising appropriate training.
• Oversight of HR and internal IT functions.
