The post holder will be expected to develop understanding of the drivers, prevalence and wider harms of extremism in Brighton & Hove to help shape local strategy and interventions to strengthen community resilience to all forms of extremism. You will have a good understanding of what constitutes extremism and how this can manifest in local communities and knowledge of the range of interventions that can create more cohesive communities. You will need to demonstrate experience of working with diverse communities including vulnerable, marginalised and disengaged groups, modelled on collaborating and empowering individuals and communities, promoting trust and confidence, and community cohesion. You will need to develop strong and effective partnerships particularly with grass root community groups and organisations to build their capacity to deliver projects and be able to advise and support organisations on accessing funds/support to enable them to consolidate and amplify their work in relation to countering extremism. You will need to have: • Excellent communication skills and the ability to negotiate effectively to achieve successful outcomes and produce high quality written reports/documents. • Business planning skills with ability to identify and assess risks, manage change and make long term plans which impact on the whole service or the wider Council. • A high level of political awareness and link strategies for continuous improvement with the drive to achieve national, corporate and departmental standards and goals.
