About the Role
School Admission Appeals
Are you interested in children's education?
East Sussex County Council is seeking volunteers to sit on School Admission Appeal Panels. Whilst the County Council is responsible for administering the school appeal process, Appeal Panels are independent and must act in an impartial manner.
Panels decide whether or not to uphold appeals made by parents/guardians who are not satisfied with the school their child has been allocated a place at.
You should be sensitive to the concerns of parents and to the pressures on local schools. You will also need to be a good listener and have the ability to be objective. We will provide you with training on the legal framework of the appeal process and local procedures. Service is voluntary, but you will be paid out of pocket expenses.
Additional Information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
