About the Role

The Joint Community Rehabilitation Service (JCR) is a partnership between East Sussex County Council Adult Social Care and East Sussex Healthcare Trust. The aim of our service is to help people remain in their own homes and stay independent through a time-limited intensive community rehabilitation programme. We currently need a Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team.

You will be part of a supportive, highly professional and friendly Integrated Intermediate Care Team promoting quality of life.

 Duties for this role will include:

- Supporting the Manager to ensure the effective running of the service on a day to day basis and reporting any concerns with regards clients or staff to appropriate people.

- Taking responsibility for a shift including making decisions, seeking advice or support when necessary. Responding to referrals and monitoring the support workers allocated calls.

- Liaising with outside agencies e.g. Doctors, District Nurses, Paramedics and other professionals.

- Line manage a team of staff including managing attendance and practice issues.

- Being the key worker to a number of clients and manage complex cases.

 -Acting as a role model of high quality care practice.

To be successful in the role of Senior Support Worker you must be able to demonstrate:

- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels verbally as well as written.

- The ability to work in a team.

- That you hold an NVQ Level 3 or be willing to undertake a QCF Diploma Level 3.

- That you have an awareness of Health and Safety issues.

- A good understanding of Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.

- A good understanding of safe guarding in relation to the Care Act.

- Willing to work shifts that will include weekends once a month.

- Full driving licence and access to a car is required.

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau). Please note that we require evidence of an overseas police check if you have lived or worked abroad. 

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit.
