About the Role

We are looking for people who have accommodation in which they can offer support to adults with eligible needs and also have the skills necessary to provide that support to a high standard. This can be in your own home, or a second property that you own such as houses, flats or self-contained bedsits.

(Landlords with accommodation, but with no experience or transferable skills need not apply)

We provide services to adults who are assessed as eligible for services provided by Adult Social Care. We are supporting a growing number of providers who are enabling people to be active and valued members of the community. Clients may have Mental Health issues, Learning Disabilities, Autism or Physical Disabilities.

The main ethos of the service is to provide a safe and empowering environment for our clients. We monitor and support providers to help them achieve excellence in accommodation based support. We are a service that promotes choice, assesses and manages risks, and believes in teaching skills that allow people to become as independent as possible.

Candidates will be assessed and following receipt of satisfactory references and DBS check, if successfully approved will receive an income from the rent to each room, plus the weekly support costs to support the individual in the accommodation. Supported Accommodation and Shared Lives Officers will assess the client’s specific needs which will dictate exactly when and what support is required. We will also provide ongoing training, support and monitoring to successful candidates.

The Shared Lives Team is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and clients are ‘matched’ to live with you in your own home. Shared Lives Carers are able to provide personal care and direct support with administering medication if the clients need it. You will be expected to have relevant skills and passion for the role, and there is a robust assessment process that can take around four months to complete. This is a specific role that requires the carer to share their life and accommodation with another person. For the right kind of person or family, this can be a very rewarding career.

The Shared Lives Team have limited available spaces left to take on new providers, and are specifically looking for providers with specific experience.

Please call Matt Holmes or Lyn Cannings if you are interested in  being a Shared Lives provider.

The Supported Accommodation Team is the unregulated side of the service, and therefore tends to work with slightly more able clients towards independence. We are looking for people who have space in their own home, or second property/properties that they wish to use to support up to a maximum of eleven clients to secure and maintain safe supportive accommodation in East Sussex.

Clients are referred to us, and we assess and then ‘match’ with suitable providers in their area of choice.

Successful candidates will have the relevant skills, ethos and background, and will be supported to develop a high quality service within their accommodation(s).The Supported Accommodation Team are keen to hear from anyone who would like to consider this kind of career. We would consider accommodation in any area of East Sussex, and are specifically looking for candidates who have passion, commitment and experience in working with clients with eligible care needs.

Please call Sue Pearce or Dan Boyle if you are interested in being a Supported Accommodation provider.
