JOB VACANCY: COMMUNITY GARDENER BRIGHTON AND HOVE FOOD PARTNERSHIP

We're recruiting for a Community Gardener to support our Big Lottery funded "Sharing The Harvest" project, which is helping vulnerable adults (those with learning disabilities, experience of homelessness, mental health issues, abuse and addiction) to improve their health and wellbeing through community gardens and growing.

This exciting and rewarding role involves working with partners across the city to setup and run gardens in new spaces such as hostels, and day centres, as well as supporting vulnerable adults to get involved with existing gardens in their communities. The role also involves developing our new community garden at Saunders Park.

Whilst much of the Gardener's time will be spent working outside at a variety of different locations around the city, the position also has an office-based element, including communications, monitoring and evaluation and general administrative tasks that are vital for the success of the project. The ideal candidate will therefore have relevant horticulture experience, experience of working with vulnerable adults and also experience of working in an office environment. There is a job description in the application pack and a film about the project.

HOURS: 22.5 hours per week, with Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as usual working days. SALARY: £14,784 per annum (for 22.5 hours per week). ANNUAL LEAVE: 15 days per year plus a pro rata allowance for bank holidays. CONTRACT: Fixed term until end September 2017. This post is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.

APPLICATION PACKS: The packs include a Job Description, Person Specification and Application form and can be downloaded in Word or PDF format. Please note that all applications must be submitted using our own application form. CVs WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED (or seen by the judges).

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 10am Wednesday 15th June, 2016 INTERVIEW DATE: Wednesday 22nd June 2016 at our offices at the Brighthelm Centre, central Brighton, BN1 1YD.
