The CST delivers community safety services to individuals and communities in Brighton and Hove on behalf of BHCC. CST staff are currently based at 3 Palace Place and Kings House, and are due to move to Hove Town Hall in Autumn 2016.

Within the CST is the Casework Team. The principle aim of the Casework Team is to work with individuals and communities to tackle, prevent and reduce the harm caused by hate incidents & anti-social behaviour. To deliver this aim the team uses a range of tools and powers available to support and protect both victims and witnesses, and to encourage and require perpetrators to address and change their behaviours. The team uses a restorative approach whenever it is appropriate.

In responding to concerns within the community we work with a range of other council departments and partner agencies including Police, Housing providers, Probation, Youth Offending Service, Child and Adult safeguarding agencies, local businesses and the voluntary sector.

You will be an experienced caseworker with substantial experience of multi-agency working and problem solving, and will be motivated to make an effective and real contribution to community safety in Brighton & Hove. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of community safety cases, co-ordinating both victim and perpetrator action plans, ensuring that supportive interventions and enforcement measures are used when necessary and appropriate.

The team’s five caseworkers share responsibility for providing a duty service during office hours, taking reports and providing advice, guidance and support to members of the public and fellow professionals in relation to anti-social behaviour and hate incidents across the city.

You will also be engaging with communities to ensure that they have trust and confidence in the Casework Team.
