An exciting opportunity has arisen in Brighton & Hove dedicated Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Team. We are looking to recruit experienced Approved Mental Health Professionals to join the team in providing a 24/7 service to the public across the City. The AMHP would be expected to cover a mixture of shifts including 9:00-17:00, 14:00-22:00, 7 days a week and standby shifts from home (21:30-9:00am) the next day.

As a dedicated AMHP your primary role will be to carry out statutory functions under the Mental Health Act 1983 and other tasks related to the provision of mental health services to people in crisis. You would be expected to undertake complex assessments with a range of people of all ages, including children & adolescents. You would be required to work under pressure, to be able to prioritise assessments according to risk, and to work effectively on your own initiative. The role can be challenging but rewarding; you will be required to work closely with professionals from other agencies including Police, Ambulance and NHS Trust. You will join a team of 9 individuals, including the team administrator, and you will be able to contribute to the on-going development of a 24/7 AMHP service.

In addition, you may be asked to undertake supervision responsibilities, particularly in relation to AMHP students and the mentoring of less experienced colleagues.

You will be expected to be registered with HCPC and be a Qualified AMHP .

You will receive regular supervision and be supported to further develop your skills and practice by undertaking post qualifying training.
