A Full-time maternity cover position has become available within the Behaviour and Inclusive Learning Team, which operates as the city's behaviour outreach service for Yrs R-6. We are looking to appoint on a full-time basis for a period of 12 months.
BILT offers support, advice and direct in-school provision for children who are at Stage 3 of Brighton and Hove's threshold of intervention with the aim of reducing fixed term exclusions, maintaining children's mainstream placements as well as developing colleagues' capacity to manage challenge. We also offer a wide variety of bespoke training packages and forums for staff to discuss challenge.
Initially you would be based at Middle Street Primary but primarily be working peripatetically across the city with a typical caseload of 12-18 children across, on average, 6-8 schools per week. Individual transport is desirable but not essential. Extensive mainstream primary experience is crucial as is a high level of personal organisation and ability to sympathetically understand individual challenges and adapt accordingly.
We can offer a supportive team ethic, training, regular supervision and the chance to develop practice whilst working across all of the city's primary schools.
Extensive mainstream primary experience is essential as is the ability to communicate sensitively and clearly with a wide range of individuals and understand that challenging behaviour engenders strong feelings amongst staff, parents and the school community
