Health and Safety Manager
Brighton
Up to £45,000

Our client require a Health and Safety Manager for their UK business to drive best practice and compliance across multiple locations and brands. Student welfare is at the heart of their business so ensuring that they are able to provide a safe and secure environment is critical for their success.



The main responsibilities of this role are:



* Maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice and best practice and ensure that procedures are compliant.
* Be responsible for the H&S policies, processes and management system.
* Drive a culture of H&S awareness with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Deliver a continuous programme of health and safety inspections/surveys, risk assessments and advise on health and safety matters at our client's Locations across the UK and Europe, in conjunction with outsourced supplier.
* Establish and maintain records for on-site induction and permit-to-work system for contractors and suppliers.
* Own regulatory reporting activity (ie: to H&S Executive) and lead the UK Health and Safety Committee.
* Be responsible for the incident management process, and ensure that accident and incident investigations are carried out, and remedial actions are addressed promptly.
* Build active networks with peers both internally and externally regarding H&S matters.

To be considered for this role, a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification is essential. You must also have a valid UK driving licence. Other professional memberships (ie: ISOH) or relevant qualifications are desirable.

Experience of working in an educational environment is highly desirable, particularly one with residential/boarding facilities. Candidates should also demonstrate a track record of managing H&S across multiple locations, and preferably using outsourced suppliers for certain elements of the role.

* Competent in the use of H&S systems, data and reporting
* Self motivated, versatile and have the ability to work on own initiative with little supervision
