Do you have good communication skills, an eye for detail, the ability to work under pressure, clear handwriting and excellent interpersonal skills? Do you have the ability to speak in public and the confidence to deliver our range of ceremonies to a high standard? The East Sussex Registration Service is looking for motivated individuals to supplement its civil ceremony team in 2015.  Full training will be provided.

You will be responsible for ensuring the legal preliminaries have been completed, the pre-ceremony interview with the couple, the accurate registration of marriage and civil partnership ceremonies, the issue of certificates and other ancillary duties. Ceremonies take place in the office, at licensed venues or churches, therefore the ability to show how you will meet the travelling needs of the role, is essential.

You will also need to demonstrate a sensitive approach to working with people and be of very smart appearance suitable for civil ceremonies. Whilst most of our ceremonies take place at weekends, and on public holidays, some couples choose to have their ceremony on a weekday. We cannot guarantee hours of work on particular days or on a regular basis but you would need to be available for work at weekends/public holidays especially during the summer months during which time we would expect you to work most weekends as required by the service.  Occasional evening work may also be required.Additional Information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.

From 6 April 2011 the Home Office has placed a permanent restriction on the number of migrant workers that all Tier 2 (General) Sponsors can recruit. Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.

Hours of work: a minimum of 60 hours per year, but with flexibility to work substantially more hours, especially during the summer months. Working pattern: Part-time

Closing date: Sunday 1 February 2015. Interview & Selection dates: 11 February 2015 and 12 February 2015
