Would you like a career in a local authority revenues environment? If so, there's an exciting opportunity for you to join the Brighton & Hove City Council's Revenues Service to complete a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Local Taxation.

The Council's Revenues Team is based in Bartholomew House, Bartholomew Square, Brighton and collects council tax and business rates on behalf of the council.

There are a number of Teams within the Revenues Service including:

• Business rates which bill all liable businesses within the city and respond to customer enquiries
• Council tax which bill all liable residents within the city and respond to customer enquiries
•  Inspectors who inspect all properties in the city to ensure they are paying the correct amount of business rates or council tax, liaising with the Valuation Office Agency where necessary
• Recovery who work to retrieve business rates and council tax monies owed to the council through the use of bailiffs and the courts
• There may also be an opportunity for you to develop your project management skills via a piece of work which is currently looking to maximise income through business rates.
• Plus, you may also be able to work with the Housing Benefit Team which process housing benefit and council tax reduction claims to ensure residents are able to pay their rents and council tax within Brighton & Hove.

On completion of the apprenticeship, you will achieve a nationally recognised qualification (Level 3 in Local Taxation) whilst receiving a training allowance of £12,174 per annum.

The course is run by Escalla who is responsible for supporting you with your learning and carrying out assessments. The course has core modules to complete and a number of optional units. Your work experience will be linked to the modules and units in your course. You will receive additional support from a nominated mentor, throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
